Endurance, abstinence, soul cleansing and fasting during Ramadan are a test of unflinching faith for Muslim Singaporeans.

At the end of one month, Muslims rejoice and celebrate Hari Raya Puasa with vigour and enthusiasm. As they prepare for the occasion, thousands of glittering lights transform Geylang Serai into a happening bazaar of makeshift stalls offering a wide array of festive goods.

On the morning of Hari Raya Puasa, after an elaborate bath, men and boys head for the mosque for a special prayer. Past wrongs are forgiven and families visit the graves of those departed as a mark of remembrance. Like most Singaporean celebrations, food is always important!
