The Enfield Heritage Museum was established by the Enfield and
Districts Historical Society Incorporated in 1995 and is
operated by Society members on a voluntary basis. The museum
extends over three buildings, the 1882 Machinery Shed, the
1883 Stables, and recently the Society built Sunnybrae Farm
Federation Pavilion.

artifacts and photographs on the history of Hindmarsh and the

Mary MacKillop was 24 years of age, when she founded a new and
different kind of Religious Congregation of women to suit
Australian conditions. The eldest of eight children of
Scottish migrant parents, at sixteen she found herself the
'bread-winner' of the family as an employee of the stationery
firm, Sands and Kenny in Melbourne.

Completed in 1927, this unique structure is the headquarters
of Freemasonry in South Australia. The design, created by Mr W
H Harral of the firm of Messers Bruce and Harral, Architects,
was selected from a number of entries submitted by competing
architects in South Australia in 1922.

The first Government owned steam railway in the British Empire
was opened in 1856 between Adelaide and Port Adelaide, where
the station became known as Port Dock. The collection
comprises steam engines and the diesel locomotives and
railcars which replaced them.

building has been built of stone from the demolished 'A' block

Surrounded by the magnificent buildings and streetscapes which
led to much of central Port Adelaide becoming the state's
first listed heritage area, the South Australian Maritime
Museum was developed as a major commemorative project for the
1986 state sesquicentenary. Lipson Street is home to the
museum's main gallery, the magnificent Bond Stores, built in
1850.
