Penrith Whitewater Stadium

Penrith Whitewater Stadium was the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Located only an hour from Sydney. It is the only man-made whitewater course of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Penrith Whitewater Stadium is available year round for Canoeing, Kayaking, Whitewater Rafting and Guided Stadium Tours, all of which may be arranged by prior booking. The course will be in the shape of a massive 'U'. The overall drop from top to bottom is 5.5 metres. When used as a recreation course it will be traversed either by canoe or inflatable raft. Modern materials were used to create the characteristics of a mountain torrent. Re-positioning synthetic rocks along the course and changing the water flow will be used to vary the difficulty of the course. Variations in length, position or number of obstacles will offer a range of water movements and both sides of the course will include fittings to support slalom gates. In canoe slalom competition each competitor has two runs at the course and the fastest competitors will complete the 300-metre course in about 100 seconds. There is a 2-second penalty for touching one of the gates and a 50-second penalty for missing or incorrectly negotiating a gate. The start order for the first run is determined by current world championship order, while the second is run in reverse order of ranking of times from the first run, as in ski championships. This allows the excitement to be maintained to the very end of the competition.

Walking Tour

Feel the history, hear about the convicts and experience 'murder most foul' during this night walking tour of The Rocks.

The Rocks

The historic site of Sydney's first European settlement, The Rocks contains many beautifully restored buildings from Sydney's early days as a colonial town. Explore the maze of original, cobblestone lanes that lead to a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. The shopping ranges from Australian design in fashion, art, craft and jewellery to unique collectables and souvenirs. The Rocks has more than its share of restaurants run by some of Sydney's best chefs. Try bel mondo, Doyles, The Waterfront, Quay, Rockpool or Sailors Thai. However, it is just as easy to find a casual cafe, restaurant or pub for a snack or light meal, such as the garden courtyard of the Sydney Cove Provedore's or Gumnut cafe.

1967 Cadillac Hearse

Destiny Tours Sydney conduct 'weird Sydney ghost and history tours'. We are the only tour that takes you on an extraordinary ride into Sydney's bizarre and bloody past in a luxury air-conditioned, classic black 1967 Cadillac hearse named 'Elvira'. An informative and entertaining commentary will tell you about the famous and infamous who shaped the history of Sydney, and the scandals and secrets that have spiced our lives since the very first days of European settlement. Destiny Tours Sydney, offbeat and unique tours are very appealing to those who want something 'different' to the usual offerings. Although some of the popular city sights are included, they are shown from another perspective along with many other interesting places not covered by other tours are featured by Destiny Tours Sydney. For example we show the old convict-built Darlinghurst Gaol and tell stories of the hangman and the people who were executed there. We also tell stories of ghosts that are reputed to reside in some parts of the old gaol. Other places of reputed ghost activity are also covered, as well as crime scenes and much more. Elvira can carry 8 passengers, and a lot of the appeal of the tour is the reactions from the people in the streets to the vehicle. The passengers get to ride in a hearse whilst still alive! Fact sheets and a souvenir video of Elvira in a short film are included as give-aways on every tour. All this combined makes Destiny Tours Sydney a unique experience, one that they will not forget. Elvira is driven by Destiny Tours Sydney owner/operator Allan, the hearse whisper who is passionate about Elvira as he is about his favourite city of Sydney. Personalised tours also available in Elvira, the only ex-hearse licensed by the NSW Department of Transport as a tourist vehicle. 'Don't leave the best ride of your life 'til last'
